Alan Wake DLC "The Writer" review
Alan Wake's new DLC "The Writer" still tells us a story about facing his own demons, in The previous DLC "The Signal", Wake rescued his wife from the darkness, and in this DLC, Wake needs to save himself. This game is a continuation of the first DLC, they are all to move the story forward, everything is in preparation for Alan Wake 2.
At the beginning of this DLC, Wake realizes that he has fallen into the dark, but that doesn't mean he has overcome the darkness, he still needs to struggle in the dark, but this time he has more experience.
In terms of visual effects, "The Writer" is The same as the previous DLC, "The Signal", where players must find locations that have been distorted by the darkness, awaken their memories, and restore these locations to their original appearance. The most impressive scene in the game is when Wake is trapped on a giant hamster wheel, and the player must control the pace of Wake's running, too fast or too slow to fall off.
The progression of the game is different from the previous DLC, which was more impulsive, while this one is more deliberate. Once again, the typewriter played an important role, only this time, instead of letting Wake fall into a trap, he found himself.
In this game, the environment is more open, which of course means more traps. Wake can still use guns in the game, but the game encourages combat without firing a single shot, of course, if you are fully familiar with the game.
"The Writer" game experience is not bad, there are hints where there should be hints, the game process is very smooth, but this DLC is not a long story, it is only about 60-90 minutes of gameplay time, but it focuses on the right place, which makes the game very comfortable to play. The end of the game gives us a satisfying ending and leaves plenty of room for the next generation.
This game complements The previous DLC, "The Signal," and it provides a good ending to Alan Wake's first generation.
Rated 9/10
